Cancun officials are tightening restrictions for travelers after 44 Argentine students tested positive upon returning home from the resort city.  Director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, Darío Flota Ocampo has said there will be an increased focus on ensuring that visitors are following all health protocols.

“Stronger measures will be taken in the face of Easter to prevent it from being another source of contagion,” Flota Ocampo stated. The Director was specifically referring to health protocols not being followed on beaches and that city authorities will be watching for those that do not follow the rules.

“It is necessary for everyone on the beaches to assume their part,” he cautioned, reported the Riviera Maya News. “Local authorities had done this strictly at the beginning, but they need to resume that role otherwise, we are going to go back.”
