Delta has partnered with the state of Georgia and Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations sites inside and near the airport.

Additionally, Delta is partnering with Lyft on the “Fund a Ride” program to provide rides to vaccination sites to those in need.

These partnerships will help speed up a return to normalcy for the state and country, which in turn will help with demand for air travel. The aviation industry took a massive hit during the pandemic.

Delta Air Lines has joined efforts with the state of Georgia and Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to create free COVID-19 vaccination sites at the Delta Flight Museum and Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) airport, one of the busiest in the United States.

These vaccination sites are open to both Delta employees and the general public.

Delta has already given more than 39,000 vaccinations and says they will be administering 3,000 doses per day starting March 29th. These new vaccination sites will continue to operate for at least the next 13 weeks and may be extended depending on what the governor and chief health officers say.

“I think we’re ready to reclaim our lives, as well as to reclaim our joy,” said Delta’s Chief Health Officer, Dr. Henry Ting. “We’ll get there by ending this pandemic with vaccinations.”

Eligible Georgia residents can register for the COVID-19 vaccinations here.

Delta Joins Forces with Lyft

In addition to the new vaccination sites, Delta has partnered with ride-share carrier Lyft on the “Fund a Ride” program to provide rides to vaccination sites to those in need. The program is open to low-income, uninsured, and at-risk individuals.

Delta is asking SkyMiles members to donate at least $5 to Lyft through the app to help fund the program. The first 15,000 members to donate will be awarded a one-time bonus of 250 SkyMiles through May 31st.

“I am energized by the continued rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, and while millions are already vaccinated, we must ensure that those most at risk are not left behind,” said Lyft Co-Founder and President John Zimmer.

“That’s why I am proud to expand our Vaccine Access program, bringing together longstanding Lyft partners and their members to help provide transportation access so that our parents, grandparents, and loved ones won’t need to worry about how they’ll make their vaccine appointment.”

“We know our customers are eager to safely get back out into the world, including exploring one of the globe’s most beautiful outdoor destinations,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning.

“As confidence in travel rises, we hope more countries continue reopening to vaccinated travelers, which mean more opportunities to reconnect customers to the people and places that matter most.”

These new routes come in addition to the other new routes Delta announced earlier this month amidst increasing travel demand.
